Kate is Head of our Dispute Resolution Department.

Having been born, raised and schooled in Wales, Kate read law in Bristol before completing her vocational training in London.  Qualifying as a solicitor in 2007, Kate’s practice has been predominantly based in the West End. Her broad litigation background enables her to work closely with all of the other departments in the firm in order to assist with the full spectrum of disputes that the firm is instructed to advise upon.

She is regularly instructed to advise the firm’s entertainment, music and media clients on the myriad of contractual and intellectual property disputes frequently encountered. Those clients include artists, managers and record labels as well as those professions and trades providing ancillary services and products to this sector.

Kate has extensive experience in handling property disputes. This involves advising landlords, tenants, freeholders and leaseholders of both residential and commercial property on all manner of issues that arise in connection with property ownership and occupation. In particular she regularly advises her clients on matters including rent arrears, possession, service charge disputes, section 20 consultations, nuisance, boundary disputes, disrepair, dilapidations claims and property ownership disputes.

Kate advises in respect of professional negligence claims, insolvency and debt recovery together with partnership, shareholder and director disputes and corporate governance matters.

As well as her work for corporate clients, Kate also advises the firm's private clients on disputed wills and the administration of estates.  Her experience includes challenges made to wills based on lack of mental capacity of the testator, undue influence and claims for provision for dependents.

Kate assists clients by resolving matters by way of negotiation and various forms of alternative dispute resolution such as mediation.  For the small minority of her cases that cannot be settled in this way, she is able to guide clients through the complexities of litigation.
